Job Summary

Responsible for selling technical diagnostic products to laboratories via telephone as part of a specialty point of care team assisting in meeting and exceeding the sales and growth goals as determined by sales management. The position requires a high degree of organization and communication skills.  The position must provide coverage and develop the best possible market penetration to existing and prospective accounts in an assigned territory using phone calls, emails, letters, faxes, and other company resources.  Expectation is to meet and exceed sales and call goals. Individual must be able to relocate and transition into a field representative - Account Executive (AE) or Regional Point of Care Specialist (RPOC) position within 18-24 months of being in the Inside Sales role. Field sales opportunities may be located anywhere in the US and will require relocation within the assigned territory.

Key Duties

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist field sales in maximizing growth in sales revenue and profit by; identifying new business opportunities within specified territories, maintaining current business in existing accounts while successfully identifying new business opportunities within those accounts.
  • Develop leads and referrals.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of competitors.
  • Maximize the number of sales calls per day as determined by management.
  • Learn and consistently employ Meridian sales model.
  • Develop appropriate size funnel and be able to accurately forecast closes.
  • Develop relationships with distribution partners to qualify leads and secure business.
  • Analyze customer needs and formulate solutions by utilizing all available resources.
  • Follow-up on customer inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Use CRM to maintain up to date customer and territory records in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Participate and cooperate in interdepartmental projects as requested by management.
  • Attend/participate in sales meetings, training programs, trade shows and field travel.
  • Complete and submit sales reports as required by Sales Management. Conduct General Sales Administrative Duties
  • Correspond with the field sales organization as needed.
  • Process literature requests, route contracts and collect documentation for sales closures.
  • Learn and incorporate the Meridian Leadership Attributes.

Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work on a PC including repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse for long periods throughout the course of the workday.
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (gloves, face shields/safety glasses, etc.).
  • Must be able to adhere to applicable bio-safety practices when on the manufacturing floor or in laboratories.
  • Must be able to analyze and concentrate routinely throughout the course of the workday.
  • May be required to sit for long periods of time through the course of the workday.
  • May be required to travel by air/car for trade shows, meetings and field travel as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Education or Equivalent Experience Required/Preferred

  • College degree in a business, marketing and or science related field required.
  • Med Tech experience preferred (other laboratory or medical experience will be considered).
  • Candidates with 2-4 years Inside Sales/Sales experience, and/or laboratory tech experience preferred.

Competencies Required or preferred

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills to articulate highly technical information to customers.
  • Ability to learn and retain technical information (e.g., diagnostic testing procedures and various disease states).
  • Ability to read, understand and follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Must be able to prioritize and balance workloads and meet strict critical deadlines and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word/Excel and CRM software.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrate good judgment.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting with peers and other departments in a cross functional setting.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality requirements.

Required Travel %:

  • 10% travel required
