Job Summary

The Production Technician requires relevant education and training to illustrate a strong understanding of ascites manufacturing or tissue culture management. The position is responsible for overseeing and performing hybridoma inventory management, hybridoma maintenance and characterization, cell bank manufacturing and maintenance, tissue culture for ascites production, and laboratory support activities according to company policies, SOPs, and quality regulations. The position is responsible for providing technical guidance and training as assigned. The person will assist with troubleshooting and continuous improvement projects. The position will provide support for the manufacturing of our antibody products within a regulated environment.

Key Duties

  • Coordinate daily tasks with manager ensuring alignment with production schedule and assigned projects.
  • Independently complete daily assigned tasks following appropriate manufacturing documents, SOPs, and regulations.
  • Adhere to company business etiquette policies and procedures maintaining professional communication and relationships with colleagues and leadership.
  • Document and maintain current inventory of all stored hybridoma cell lines ensuring primary and secondary storage location for risk management.
  • Manufacture master and working hybridoma cell banks as scheduled.
  • Perform in-house characterization, purity, and functional testing of each new cell bank.
  • Manage outsource characterization, purity, and functional testing of each new bank as required.
  • Perform hybridoma tissue culture, cell counts, and formulation according to production schedule to provide specified hybridoma for each manufacturing order.
  • Cross-train with Senior Laboratory Animal Technicians with capability of performing entire ascites manufacturing process.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship as required.
  • Troubleshoot and address immediate production floor issues that arise.
  • Provide training for animal husbandry, colony management, ascites production, and hybridoma tissue culture tasks.
  • Participate in assigned continuous improvement projects to increase yields, decrease cost, or increase production efficiency.
  • Collaborate on process reviews, document corrections, or document updates.
  • Perform assigned tasks at above average production rates and quality parameters.
  • Perform assigned laboratory maintenance and lab management including organizing and stocking area, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, cleaning manufacturing area, and filling out appropriate paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate data sheets, records, and logs in compliance with company SOPs and quality system requirements performing daily review of completed work to correct any errors.
  • Complete all measurements and calculations per company policies ensuring accuracy and verification of data.
  • Independently complete all assigned training and read/respond to all daily company correspondences as required.
  • Adhere to company confidentiality and safety requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Primary work requirements include working in an animal laboratory and tissue culture laboratory.
  • Must be able to concentrate and focus within an animal facility manufacturing floor setting.
  • Must be able to routinely lift up to 35-50 lbs. during the course of the work shift.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (face coverings, gloves, lab coats, etc.) during work shift.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, stoop, reach, push and pull carts throughout the course of the work shift.
  • May be required to work outside of normal business hours including evenings and/or weekends to support business needs.
  • Must be able to adhere to applicable bio-safety and chemical hygiene practices when on the manufacturing floor or in laboratories.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution with a relevant scientific discipline such as animal science, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, etc. Minimal of one (1) years experience in ascites manufacturing or hybridoma cell culture production.
  • Candidates with Associates or High School degree and minimal of 2-3 years of relative experience to be considered.
  • AALAS Certification – ALAT and/or LAT welcomed.
  • Must illustrate advanced understanding of ascites manufacturing and hybridoma tissue culture procedures.
  • Must have strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Exhibits ability to identify critical parameters associated with hybridoma cell recovery, growth, and expansion that enables trend recognition and process troubleshooting.
  • Understand and apply aseptic techniques.
  • Proven ability to collect, organize, and analyse data for process control charts. Proficient understanding of math and data fitting procedures.
  • Proficient in technical writing, concise and accurate oral and written reporting of process and metric data.
  • Rapidly adapts to changing priorities, effectively manages own time.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to impact change and drive it.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow all company production procedures, SOPs and guidelines.
  • Must be self-starter, detailed oriented, organized and be able work within a manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality requirements.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English
