Job Summary

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for closing the books and reporting results of operations to the Memphis management group. The Staff Accountant will also be responsible for valuing inventory, assisting with the preparation of budgets and forecasts, maintaining fixed asset records and preparing financial reports as needed.

Key Duties

Close Accounting Systems

  • Assign labor and inventory transactions to the General Ledger.
  • Correct any errors from subsystem generated journal entries.
  • Prepare and post all manual journal entries.
  • Reconcile and analyze specified general ledger accounts.

Cost Accounting

  • Update standard costs.
  • Review and research manufacturing order variances.
  • Review manufacturing order variances with Operations Team on a monthly basis.

Fixed Asset Accounting

  • Maintain CER records; advise corporate accounting of closed CERs.
  • Ensure that depreciation expense entries post to the proper unit.
  • Prepare Personal Property Tax listings for Tennessee and Florida.
  • Conduct fixed asset audits

General Ledger and Financial Reporting

  • Maintain general ledger – new account additions, budget changes and account changes.
  • Prepare new reports as requested by management.
  • Assist with Audits.
  • Assist Finance Manager with audit schedule preparation.
  • Assist auditors with questions before, during and after the audit.

Budget Analysis

  • Assist Finance Manager with Budget preparation.
  • Perform monthly financial reviews with department managers.

Other

  • Retrieve incoming mail and process (primarily customer checks and vendor invoices).

Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Two years experience in Accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Exceptional organization, time management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
  • Travel Required less than 10%
