Job Summary

The successful candidate will maximize Meridian Life Science (MLS) market share by developing effective and successful relationships with MLS suppliers to ensure that the highest level of sales, customer service, quality and profitability is achieved for MLS Products. This person will interact daily with Production, Planning, and Suppliers to ensure proper execution of the order fulfillment process related to MLS Products.

Key Duties

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:
Purchasing
 Works with Procurement Specialists and Manager, Procurement to seek and evaluate sources of supply for new products/services, alternate sources for existing products.
 Prepares and transmits requests for quote and purchase orders to approved suppliers, reviewing and/or revising for appropriate approvals, quantities, and descriptions to ensure accuracy.

 Manages with vendors the replacement of defective material, cancellation of orders, rescheduling of delivery dates, pricing, and delivery discrepancies. Ensures credits are received when product is returned to suppliers.
 Generates daily reporting of accurate open purchase orders, delivery dates and issues.
 Analyzes daily backorder situation and perform necessary follow-up and expediting activities to ensure delivery of orders, minimize backorders, and meet production requirements.
 Tracks and communicates supplier performance through reports and evaluations.
 Notifies manufacturing of any changes in raw materials or suppliers
 Notifies manufacturing of any delays in delivery of purchased products.
 Adheres to the requirements of Meridian’s quality system regarding SOPs, vendor qualifications, vendor evaluations, and any other purchasing controls, etc.
 Ensures proper approvals are obtained before issuing orders to external suppliers.
 Maintains reports and data entry, as needed.
 Supports production of spreadsheets, presentations, and other documents, as needed.
 Makes full use of all company systems such as MAPICS, Infor Powerlink, Master CONTROL, etc.
 Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
 Escalates issues to supervisor/manager for resolution, as deemed necessary.
 Assists Planning Department as needed to help with all phases of planning data entry in the INFOR inventory management system. This includes entering daily MO production usage, final product entry, and aliquot breakdown data entries when needed.

Qualifications

 Associates in Business Administration, Bachelors preferred
 Minimum 1 Year of Purchasing or related supply chain experience or an advanced degree with equivalent directly related work experience and 2 years of administrative experience.
 Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Materials Resource Planning (MRP) software
 Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

 Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
 Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

 Must have strong time management skills and be well organized.
 Must be able to assess the importance of a phone call, email, or document and take appropriate action quickly and accurately. Able to make sound judgments and decisions decisively.
 Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc.
 Good planning and organizational skills, with a keen eye for accuracy
 Ability to produce and edit files in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
 Self-motivated and able to grasp new concepts quickly.
 Strong written and oral communication skills. (Clear, concise and honest) verbally and in writing
 Ability to work well with other departments within the company.
 Deliver items and projects on schedule while communicating progressive steps during the required work
 Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously is desirable, as well as taking on responsibility and accountability for complex duties and assignments.
