Job Summary

Participates in the analysis, development and implementation of software programs and systems on the IBM Midrange computer.  Experience and familiarity with the Infor XA ERP (MAPICS) System and Modules and their application in a manufacturing environment.  Provides support and training to Infor XA ERP users, performs system operations functions, participates in system security to the Infor XA ERP System, executes software development and implementation projects and uses Business knowledge to suggest and provide solutions to Infor XA. Other programming tasks when required.

Key Duties

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides support to the daily operations of the IT Department, specifically the Global Business Systems (ERP) team.
    • System Operations:
      • Participates in system backups and prepares tapes for off-site storage when required.
      • Analyzes root cause, responds and resolves system messages.
    • Help Desk: Resolves daily user requests for support.
  • Works with system owners/users to develop System Requirements.
  • Code, test and debug new or existing programs according to defined requirements.
  • Develops and executes formal testing protocols of business processes.
  • Creates documentation in accordance with current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
  • Installs vendor supplied software and updates per vendor instructions and SOPs.
  • Ability to communicate with users, team members in both written and oral form.
  • Provides, as needed, “on call” support for the IBM Midrange computer system and applications.
  • Executes projects to successful on-time completion with assistance/oversight from IT management.

  • Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs throughout the workday in a multi-location facility.
  • Ability to work on PC including repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse for long periods throughout the course of the workday.
  • Must be able to concentrate, analyze and solve complex issues throughout the course of the workday.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, reach and bend throughout the course of the work shift.
  • May be required to sit for long periods of time through the course of the work shift.
  • Ability to travel by air/car to other company locations as necessary to fulfill project requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Education or Equivalent Experience Required/Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or Associates Degree with commensurate experience.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in an IT and/or Enterprise Resource Planning support role.
  • Two or more years’ experience in programming on a PC, Client Server or AS/400 environment preferred.

Competencies Required or preferred

  • Computer proficiency (MS Word and Excel).
  • Possess an understanding of iSeries OS and DB2.
  • Familiar with the RPGLE and CLLE programming language, other languages are a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and XML.
  • Working knowledge of COBOL and IBM
  • Working knowledge of INFOR XA (MAPICS) or experience in other INFOR ERP Systems (LN, LX or System21) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving problems in a timely manner. This may include working with software vendors as needed to obtain information and support.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a cross-functional team.
  • Must be self-starter, able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and ability to meet strict deadlines and perform under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to train others in the use of technology.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality requirements.
  • Ability to provide technical support on non-standard shifts and weekends to resolve programming issues or project work that would otherwise interfere with production.
  • Ability to work in a highly interactive environment.
