Job Summary

The role involves taking part in the scientific activities of the R&D group by developing and delivering new products and/or performing laboratory work, while providing documentation according to ISO standards. The position may also involve dealing with customers’ technical enquiries when necessary.

Key Duties

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experimental work on a variety of scientific projects.
  • Independently follow SOP (protocols, MSOP and ASOP)
  • Independent troubleshooting of experiment
  • Write literature to support products.
  • Keep accurate laboratory records.
  • Work to ISO13485 standards and understand their requirements.
  • Participation in general laboratory meetings
  • Assist with the technical support activities in the R&D group
  • Ability to sit for multiple hours.
  • Ability to stand for multiple hours.

Competencies Required or preferred

  • Experience in real-time PCR (qPCR) and endpoint PCR assay design and interpretation of data
  • Ability to autonomously develop and troubleshoot enzymatic assays.
  • Laboratory experience in gene expression studies and analysis, isothermal amplification or molecular microbiology is a plus
  • Experience of construction of libraries for next generation sequencing is a plus.
  • Expertise in a broad range of molecular biology techniques
  • Good understanding of chemical principles involved in buffers, stabilizers, enhancers, fluorescent chemistry etc. used with commercial polymerases and polymerases mixes
  • Demonstrate ownership of activities and responsibilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to report and communicate concisely ideas and concepts
  • Interact with customers in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of DNA and RNA polymerases
  • Familiarity with general bioinformatics website and software packages

 

Qualifications

  • A PhD or equivalent in life science
  • Experience in an active research laboratory or equivalent industrial experience
